Ahmad Zahra
Ahmad
Zahra
Born 1970 in Beirut, Lebanon. Lived 1980-1984 (during the civil war in Lebanon)
in Rhede bei Bocholt, North-Rhein-Westphalia, where he went to school and
learned German exceptionally well. Thereafter, he returned with his family
to Syria. He studied English and German at the University of Damascus from
1990 to 1995 after completing High School. Already during his studies, he
worked as a speaker for German-language news services at National Syrian Radio.
Later, he worked as a tour guide for well-known German cultural-travel organizational
services (1996, received diploma as a tour guide, Studiosus). 1997, Founded
the language institute ARABESKE,
besides working for the Goethe-Institute Damascus from 1997-2003 and teaching
German at the University of Damascus. Ahmad is married and has 2 children.
Hanan Zahra
Like
her brother, Hanan, born 1976, acquired almost accent-free German during her
stay in Germany. After Secondary School, she first studied English, then Arabic,
Sociology and Philosophy. She taught lessons in Arabic at several private
schools, giving her the didactic capabilities she has today as an instructor
at ARABESKE.
Rula Zahra
Like
her siblings Ahmad and Hanan, Rula, born 1972, acquired nearly accent-free
German during her stay there. After Secondary School, she studied geography
and Arabic. She has been an instructor at ARABESKE
since 1998, where she gives lessons in conversational Arabic with great success.
Manar Issa
Born
1975, she lived with her parents in the United Arab Emirates before coming
to Damascus and studying Arabic. Because she only teaches in Arabic, her classes
are challenging even for advanced course-participants.
Walid al Ahmad
Born
1966, studied Arabic in Damascus as well. Owing to his exceptional didactic
capabilities, he teaches at various language schools in Damascus and supervises
the grammar tutorials at ARABESKE.
Ahmad Al Sadaat
Born
1966, is an instructor as well as an advisor to diverse extracurricular activities.
He teaches Arabic and English and works as a tour guide for various European
cultural-travel organizational services.
Mahmud Sakal
Born
1970, calligrapher. He is one of the best calligraphers in Syria. Walking
through Damascus, you’ll discover many of the signs that he has decorated
with beautiful Arabic calligraphy.
Fadi al-Silek
Born
1977, cook. Since 1997 a part of the ARABESKE-team.
Employed by numerous hotels and restaurants in land and abroad, since 2000
by the Sheraton Damascus.
Gassan Abu Jaudat
Born
1968, dancer. Longstanding engagement with Umayya (the most well-know Syrain
Folklore-Ensemble). Performances in Germany, France, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, UAE
and throughout Syria. Part of the ARABESKE-team
since 1997.
Dr. Mzyad Al Ahmad
Since
summer 2003, Dr. Myzad al Ahmad, an English-speaking doctor, has offered a
special service to our guests- he is available for at-home medical assistance
24 hours/day.
