Lessons (^ Courses and Services )
The Syrian dialect is very similar to standard Arabic. The language taught is “Modern Standard Arabic”. For this reason it is much easier to converse with common people than it would be in the countries of the Maghreb for example. In the “classic” courses we also focus on the Syrian-Arabian common language. You won’t only experience pleasant surprises while conversing with you guest family, but your spoken-language comprehension will profit from it as well through conversing with the residents.
The lessons focus heavily on communicative and practical usage. From day one, you’ll already be able to use the Arabic language. Therefore, oral communication exercises are especially emphasized. Everyday situations are practiced with the instructors in an entertaining way. Even those language learners, for whom the ARABESKE-courses are their initial contact with the Arabic language, will, from the start, have the opportunity to converse with local people. Successful learning is achieved through these experiences of everyday life situations in the foreign country in a relaxed and stress-free manor. The individual courses are logically structured progressively.
With us you’ll learn to read, write, speak and understand Arabic. Our methods give you a solid base in the language that will, above all, enable you to converse in Arabic. With the knowledge obtained in the courses, you’ll be well prepared to further expand your skills outside the courses as well. Written homework serves to repeat and deepen the material covered in the courses. The exercises are discussed and/or collected and corrected by the instructors. In this fashion, written skills are obtained as well.
Besides this, you’ll gain insight into the political, economic and social world of the Modern Middle East. Selected current newspaper articles or news reviews of Arabian television help you to understand current events from another perspective in a new way. The day of class in the Omayyaden Mosque brings together for you the inseparable connection between Islam and the Arabic language.
The transmission of grammar basics is naturally a part
of the courses for beginners without any previous knowledge of the language.
Grammar tutorials are offered after classes, free of charge, to participants
in the secondary level “classic” courses, which you may attend
according to your own level and interest.
