The Syrian dialect is very similar to standard Arabic. The language taught is “Modern Standard Arabic”. For this reason, it is much easier to converse with common people than it might be in the countries of the Maghreb for example.

Accommodations
Accommodations are offered at selected guest families. Most of the participants will stay in central Bab Tuma, a Christian part of the old-city Damascus declared a world culture treasure by UNESCO. From the start, you’ll not simply be seen as a tourist, but rather as a welcome guest and often as a “part of the family”.

Culture
The second pillar of our “classic” course consists of a diverse cultural program next to the pure langue courses. In order to grasp Arabic completely, more is needed than vocabulary, grammar or pronunciation exercises. The surroundings play an important role; the mentality of the people in their day to day activities, or the banalities of everyday life…
